about Bloom

We are still at the beginning of our journey. Our vision is still conceptual. Our physical space is rough, untilled soil. The last few months have been difficult for us all and our plans, like so many other people's, were disrupted. But now the light seems to be visible at the end of the tunnel, and we begin again, with some new ideas and enthusiasm. Here is a synopsis of our vision:

Bloom exists physically in Valencia. This will be (after renovations are complete) a shared creative space. A gallery/performance space. We will be renting out studio./workshop space to artists on a temporary basis for the creation of specific works.

Residencies are an important part of an artist's life. We envision two interconnected strands for our residency program:

Physical: We will be partnering with hostels in the city to provide accommodation while we provide the workspace. Differing lengths will be available, from 10 days to one month (longer stays will be possible; all will be based on artist needs). Each residency will culminate in an exhibition and a talk/workshop by the artist. Group residencies are possible.

Virtual: artists will stay in their home location but connect via online workshops and network events where there is a physical element in the gallery (for instance, the artist gives a live talk via the internet to an audience at Bloom, and their work is shown digitally as an installation.)

At the core of our vision is the building of a network of artists, especially trans Mediterranean, as that is where our roots are.

And, of course, we will host exhibitions.

We want to create an art space that is inclusionary and diverse,. As owners we are from a range of backgrounds and we want Bloom to reflect this. We embrace artists who work in a variety of media. We may only be beginning, but our dreams reach far into the future.
