Ophelia # 1 by Elizabeth Hefty-Khoury
Ophelia # 1 is one of a series of paintings examining mental illness. The faces are sightless, voiceless, powerless to see, hear, speak or feel. They exist in a void of numbness, disconnected from their bodies and each other. These forms symbolism the fractured nature of self in modern society; they are loneliness, they are non-actors on a wider stage.
