The fragility of balance explores the inherent unsustainability of sectarian systems. Balance is maintained through division and fear of the other.
Peace is fragile, delicately floating on an unpredictable sea, and is too easily fractured by outside factors that are manipulated to inflame the politics of difference. It uses the situation in Lebanon in 2020 where a crumbling regime is held together by centuries of antagonism and mistrust. Economic crisis is being used by those in power to bolster sectarianism and hatred to deflect the reality of their own corruption and mismanagement.
