about us |
Bloom is owned and run by Elizabeth & Bob, but we collaborate with people, groups, and galleries both in Spain and abroad.

Elizabeth Hefty-Khoury is a British-Lebanese artist, writer, and co-owner of Bloom Gallery in Valencia, Spain. Born in London, she has lived across the U.S., France, Senegal, Lebanon, and Spain, experiences that deeply inform her exploration of cultural identity, memory, and psychological displacement.
With an MFA in Painting and an MA in Celtic Studies, Hefty-Khoury’s practice blends visual art and literature, weaving together comparative mythology, symbolism, and personal narrative. Her work often features fragmented, faceless figures that challenge conventional representations of the body, reflecting themes of grief, mental illness, and emotional vulnerability. She frequently reimagines ancient symbols—such as the Irish Sheela na Gig—through a contemporary feminist lens, examining the intersections of sexuality, power, and ancestral myth.
Hefty-Khoury’s interest in storytelling extends to her writing, which spans poetry, prose, and hybrid text-image works. At Bloom Gallery, she fosters cross-cultural dialogue by showcasing artists from the Mediterranean and Middle East, emphasizing art’s role in bridging diverse narratives and experiences.

Bob Khoury is the founder and owner of Bloom Gallery. Born and raised in Beirut, Lebanon, with a background rooted in archaeology and a deep interest in the ways people leave their mark on the world—through artifacts, stories, or maps—Bob brings a unique sensibility to curating and supporting artistic work. His passion for community-building is central to Bloom Gallery’s mission, which acts not only as a gallery but also as a gathering point for dialogue, collaboration, and creative exploration.
Bob’s lifelong fascination with ancient landscapes and material culture informs his curatorial approach, often favoring works that trace forgotten histories or map out new narratives. Whether walking the ruins of a past civilization or hosting a neighborhood workshop, he sees art as a form of cartography—a way to make sense of the terrain we inhabit and share.
